The Economic Impact of Private Aviation on Local Communities

Private Aviation

Wall Township, NJ, is our local community and everyone at Monmouth Executive Airport is proud to contribute to the region’s economy. Our privately owned, public-use airport has welcomed presidents, vice presidents, famous musicians, pilots, passengers, and Part 135 operators. We even have a runway that is longer than the commercial jet runways at LaGuardia Airport!

Monmouth Executive Airport aviation activities are strengthened by local support, and we have a deep appreciation for the people in our community. Airport clients benefit from our ideal location as we are a 10-minute drive from the Shore and a 20-minute helicopter ride from Manhattan. Join us as we discuss the economic impact of aviation and private aviation in more detail.

Aviation Economy Creates Ripple Effects in Regional Areas

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report on The Economic Impact of U.S. Civil Aviation, published in September 2024, states that “The total economic impact of an industry is the summation of primary and secondary spending related to that particular industry.”

  • Primary spending is revenue earned from the sale of goods and services, such as the FBO services offered by Monmouth Jet Center or our airplane hangar rentals, as well as expenditures.
  • Secondary spending is the impact of primary expenditures on supporting entities and businesses, thus spending down the supply chain by, amongst others, the various NJ flight schools at our airport. It also includes employee spending that results from payroll.

The aviation economy, including private aviation, creates a ripple effect in regional and local communities.

Local Business Support Strengthens Through Air Access

We are always happy to see our community kids at the annual Monmouth Jet Centre Easter Egg Hunt held at Monmouth Executive Airport. Air access not only strengthens the local economy but also helps the Easter Bunny make a skydiving entrance!

Monmouth Executive Airport is a public-use airport that serves general aviation clients with commercial operations and private aviation owners who use their aircraft for personal, business, or recreational purposes. Local businesses based at our airport provide services that include on-field aircraft maintenance, private jet charter services, and aircraft cleaning and detailing. One of the easter egg hunt children might learn to fly at our flight schools, thereby contributing to the region’s current and future economy.

Employment Creation Beyond Airport Boundaries

Job creation is one of the measures of an airport’s economic impact. Statistics from the FAA report show that civil aviation in the United States directly and indirectly supported 9.4 million jobs in 2022. How is employment created outside privately owned public-use airport boundaries?

Monmouth Executive Airport’s economic activity adds to job creation within Wall Township and the county. Spending down the supply chain, or secondary spending, impact the housing property market, grocery stores, car dealers, schools, and service providers such as plumbers. Business charter services utilize catering prepared by individuals or businesses outside the airport. Limousine and taxi services fill up at fuel stations while plumbers work at homes owned by airport employees. Our presence also contributes to the tax base.

Infrastructure Development Drives Long-Term Growth

Monmouth Jet Center has been part of the Wall Township community for more than a decade, and the airport has been in existence for nearly a century. We continue to invest in infrastructure development as safety is our main priority, and we are proud to present Monmouth Executive Airport (BLM) as a viable alternative to crowded New York City, Philadelphia, and Jersey Shore gateway airports such as Teterboro (KTEB) and Morristown (KMMU).

Airports, such as Monmouth Executive Airport, contribute significantly to a region’s economic engine. It creates direct and indirect jobs while supporting local and regional businesses. New business and private aviation clients who use the airport ensure infrastructure continues to be developed, thereby supporting future job growth.

Monmouth Executive Airport is centrally located for all major centers of commerce and entertainment on the East Coast. Our team is passionate about private aviation and serving our clients with professionalism. Contact us today for more information on our airport or visit us at: https://monmouthjetcenter.com/
